Row Houses, Amsterdam Southeast

It was felt necessary to include some traditional Dutch row housing in the southeastern expansion; houses like this can be found in almost any Dutch city or town. This level of density is barely enough to support good public transport, but the area enjoys excellent metro service, in part due to higher densities along other sections of the line.

The area is difficult to illustrate. The top photo is quite characteristic of the streets onto which the houses face. The middle photo shows what could best be considered the back yards, but these vary somewhat, with this one more spacious than most. One of the large parking lots can be seen in the bottom photograph. All houses are two-stories-plus-usable-attic; the area is entirely residential. Much of the surface is paved.
