The Torre del Mangia is the focal point of Il Campo, Siena's premier square. It is reputed to be the tallest non-sectarian tower in all of medieval Italy. It is visible from all parts of the city and far beyond. I don't know if the tower is ever opened to visitors, but it would certainly offer a remarkable view out over the gorgeous Italian Hill Country, which is dotted with dozens of other beautiful hill towns in this, one of the most attractive corners of the world.
