I would be interested to hear from anyone who knows this place. It is odd, because the ground falls away towards the camera, suggesting an underpass, but for what reason? The area on the right appears to be a park. The intersection is ill-defined - it flows off into trees and the drop-off. While it is a tolerably attractive area, it does not work well for me as an urban scene. I suppose that those living in the houses facing the park have an agreeable view. Notice that the only coniferous tree in sight has been kept well away from the houses, so as not to shade them during the winter.
The building on the corner, while simple, is nicely proportioned, and the thoughtful addition of the large corner windows on the top two floors brightens the building considerably, both inside and out.
