This is a classic Italian fountain. It is comparatively simple but not without ornamentation. At the time this photograph was taken, it was still in heavy use, to judge by the amount of water spilled around it. As is common in Italy, the well stands in front of the parish church, which, here as in so many places, is the best building on the square. The church is actually quite simple, but the intricate double staircase and curved balcony lend interest to it.
