This small courtyard with a formal garden (not terribly well tended, by the look of it) is a fine addition to the building and brings light into all the rooms that front on it.
This courtyard might be criticized on the matter of proportion - it is very much longer than it is wide and would have been better arranged (if possible) in a less elongated manner.
